Derrick Glum Selected New Mountain Vista Medical Center and Florence Hospital Chief Operating Officer

Mountain Vista Medical Center and Florence Hospital, both Steward Health Care facilities, have selected Derrick Glum their new chief operating officer.  In his new position, Glum will be responsible for oversight in all areas of the hospital’s operations including daily operations strategy, patient care, physician relations and financial performance.

“Derrick’s diverse background in operational and administrative positions makes him an excellent fit to oversee the daily operations at our hospitals,” said Damon Brown, President of Mountain Vista Medical Center and Florence Hospital, as well as the Arizona Market President for Steward Health Care.

Glum comes to Mountain Vista after serving as the system interim chief executive officer, chief operating officer for Gila Rivera Healthcare/Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Chandler, Arizona. In his roles there, he was responsible for the business strategy and operations for the health system’s hospital, skilled nursing facility, ambulatory, primary care and specialty care clinics. He has also held hospital administrator positions for Renown Health and Tahoe Pacific Hospitals in Reno, Nevada, as well as rehabilitation centers in Utah and Idaho.

Glum received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Administration from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah and his Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University in Salt Lake, City, Utah.

“I see my role as instrumental in developing and improving systems that result in patient-centric care,” Glum said. “I strongly believe in having a positive impact on the community I serve by finding ways that support our patients and community members in living happy, healthier lives.”

Derrick and his wife, Sara enjoy spending time outdoors with their five daughters, ages 7-17 and are actively engaged in the Queen Creek community where they live.
